New York Monday: Rainy Day
October 8, 2012 | Filed Under New York Monday

Sunday was Celebration of St. Francis of Assisi Day at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. St. Francis is known as the patron saint of the animals. On this day, a special service is held and all animals are a part of the service. People bring their pets for a special blessing. It was a rainy day but there were still a lot of people and their pets in attendance.
Have a wonderful new week, everyone! Happy New York Monday!
Paz

Oh, cute animals! I really like the pig.
Happy Monday!
Cheers,
Rosa
I love how “rainy” it is. People in Scotland would laugh out loud, truly – and just walk about, not thinking anything was going on whatsoever.
Good pics! Thanks for sharing them!
I remember this ceremony from last year: it’s nice.
One of my favorite NYC events. These shots are great!
Hi Rosa: Yes, the pig was cute.
Hi David: LOL at the Scots laughing at our interpretation of “rainy”. It really was rainy, though. Okay, not to their standards but that was enough rain for me.
Hi Simona: Thanks! It is always a nice occassion.
Hi Mari: It’s one of my fave events in the city, too. That’s why I always try to go see it.
Thanks for stopping by, everyone!
Paz xoxo
I loved el puerquito…I wish I had known about this. Let me know when there are events by you….
Paz, please tell me you have more photos of this day! I still remember the lovely ones you posted last year. I admit that I had so much fun seeing the variety of animals waiting to be blessed on this day. I love the little piggy in this post!
Norma: I’ll let you know when it happens next time. Will let you know of other events I hear about, too.
Bella: LOL! Yes, I do have more photos. I didn’t have a chance to go through them earlier. I’ll post them on the other blog. Stay tuned.
