Black and White Wednesday: Ostrich Meat

January 24, 2012 | Filed Under Black and White Wednesday, Farmer's Market, Ostrich Meat

There’s lots to see, eat and buy at the Farmer’s market.   Some of the items sold are everyday foods and others are unusual, like ostrich meat.   From the looks of the sign, ostrich meat goes a long way. I can’t believe it.  Wow!  I don’t think I’ll be buying any ostrich meat, however.

Happy Black and White Wednesday!

Black and White Wednesday is a culinary photography event, which Susan of The Well-Seasoned Cook created and hosts.   Stop by her blog to see who else played and learn how to play along with us.

  2. Really, Rosa? You’ve tasted it before? Oh, wow! You should do a post on it.

  3. I love the juxtaposition: emu eggs and then ostrich oil soap. Really funny. But I am not sure I understand the thing about eggs: empty & fresh. Do you know what it means?

  4. Ostrich meat? Yes, I sampled once, and did not like…
Hope you are having a great day Paz :)

  5. Hola Paz! I have never tasted ostrich meat, but I did see a delicious looking dish in a restaurant at Disney. Could you imagine an ostrich fried egg?

    Have a wonderful weekend.

  6. Simona: I was thinking that perhaps they sell empty emu eggs as decoration? I have no idea, however. If they are still around and I pass by, I will ask them.

Hi Juliana: How interesting! I’ve never tasted that meat. I have no idea how I’d react to it.

Hi Mari: I wonder what an ostrich fried egg would look and taste like. Hmmm…

    Thanks for stopping by, everyone!

  7. Oh, I used to get a ground ostrich meat dish take-out from a Thai place when I lived in San Francisco. So good! Outstanding. It was my favorite dish from that place. You should totally try it.

  8. I recently saw an ad for an emu meat restaurant here. I was too chicken to try it out. Really nice pic, Paz!

  9. Elise: If I see a recipe on your site, I’ll think about it. ;-)

Sra: I think I’m too chicken to try it, too, but the majority of comments here have positive remarks about it. So perhaps, I will try it after all. ;-)

    Thanks for stopping by, everyone!
