Strawberries with Lime

Keeping things simple, over the summer, I put together this easy dessert, snack, sweet-tooth filler (whatever you want to call it) several times. Sweet, light and cool, it was the perfect food to eat during the heatwave weather we had (By the way, we’ve now entered the Fall/Autumn season and it’s still unseasonably warm).  This Strawberries and Lime dish was also perfect to make during the hot weather, since it didn’t require a lot of energy.

If strawberries are still available near you, try this recipe. The lime zest makes it taste extra special.

New York Monday: Mexican Day Parade

September 27, 2010 | Filed Under New York Monday | 6 Comments

There are always a lot of parades in the city.  Last weekend, there were about three parades going on, the same day, in different parts of the city — The Mexican Day parade, African American Day parade and another parade, which I don’t remember now (This past Saturday, there was a German Day parade).  Here are some folks who came to see the Mexican Day parade.

Have a great week, everyone.

New York Monday

I was minding my own business as I walked down the street when I saw two hunks in the distance — wearing bathrobes!  Of course, I took their photos.  Turns out they were passing out fliers for beauty products in a store called Ricky’s.

Happy Monday, everyone!  Have a wonderful week.

The Coolest Dog Portrait Cookies on the Planet!

Menina cookie portrait made by Mischief Mari.

If my dogs were still alive today, they would have recently celebrated their birthdays.  Menina, would have been 17 years old and her daughter, Cadeau, would have been 15.  In celebration of the dogs’ lives, I asked friend and fellow blogger Mischief Mari to make some cookies for my family and me.  Even though she’s super busy, she agreed.

We loved our dog-inspired cookies!  We loved that they were whimsical and fun and made us laugh.  Not only did the cookies look terrific, they tasted delicious.

Thanks so much dear Mari!

Oh, by the way, you can find other cool cookies that Mari’s made for me here, here, here, here and here.

New York Monday: New York Water Taxi

New York Water Taxi on its way to the dock

New York Water Taxi is a water taxi service that provides commuter and sightseeing service along the East River and Hudson River (the West Side, Lower Manhattan and Downtown Brooklyn). The photos here show the water taxi approaching the East side pier at 34th Street in Manhattan. The water taxi is a great way to see many of the city’s famous landmarks — from the skyline, Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge, Ellis Island and more.

Have a great week, everyone!
