New York Monday #88: I Miss…
September 16, 2007 | Filed Under New York Monday

One of the things I miss, due to the end of summer, is being able to buy my favorite fruits — cherries. Every afternoon on my way home, I’d stop at the street vendor’s stand and buy at least two pounds (sometimes more) of cherries. The vendor was always happy to see me and I and him. He’s still around. He’s got bananas, peaches, nectarines. grapes and other fruits and vegetables but I miss being able to buy my cherries. Oh, how I love and miss them. Until next summer…
Are there any foods you’ll miss because of the end of summer?

Yes - me too. I will certainly miss the summer fruits and veggies. But in a way I’m also looking forward to what Fall brings1
I agree with Meeta, there are many fruits and veggies of summer that I will miss, but I’m also looking forward to Fall’s bounty.
Two pounds of cherries? Sometimes more?!?
Bob Hope once said, “Life is a bowl of cherries if you can swallow the pits.”
Have a most okay week. cherry-o.
Peaches, corn, and tomatoes. Those three things say “summer” to me more than any other. The only one of the three that I ever buy out of season is tomatoes, and then, only reluctantly.
I’m going to miss all the great vegetables and fruits as well as the sunny weather we never had!!!
Cheers,
Rosa

I love those cherries too! Even though I hear others complaining about the abundance of tomatoes, it’s what I always miss when they are gone. Back to canned and dried then.
Hi Meeta: I guess you’re right. I’ll look forward to what Fall brings.
Hi Kat: I’m getting in the mood now.
LOL! Mari: Cherry-o!
Hi Lydia: Yum! Peaches, corn and tomatoes.
Hi Rosa: Despite the coming winter, I hope you still get lots of sunny weather.
Hi Simona: Ahhh! Figs and Tomatoes. I see.
Hi Ces: I’m glad I have a cherry-loving partner.
Hey there, Peabody. Welcome! I love corn, too.
Hi Saffron: Ahh! apricots and kaki. Cool. Umm… what’s Kaki?
Hi Maryann: Welcome! I’m glad I have a fellow cherry lover on board.
Thanks for stopping by, everyone.

I miss cherries too. I’ve been eating lots of strawberries though. Am surprised they are in season now.
Hi Ming the Merciless: I bought some strawberries today. They were pretty good. I hate when I end up with the ones that taste like cardboard. LOL!
